Wegbeschreibung
The starting point is the Maisental P23 hiking car park at the foot of the Schlossberg. From there we walk along the meandering Brühlbach river into the valley of the same name. On the way along the meadows we enjoy the wild and romantic landscape and the lush green of the trees, until we hear the murmur of the Urach waterfall from afar. At the end of the valley, we climb up a well-developed natural path with stairs along the largest waterfall in the Swabian Jura. Along small zig-zag paths we arrive at the high meadow, a small kiosk and benches invite a relaxing break at the rest area there.
Staying at this height we follow a wide forest path in the direction of Hohenurach castle ruins, arriving at the so-called "Kreuz" (a crossroads with shelter and grill pit), at the foot of a steep ascent to the castle ruins. We leave this on the right and at the next crossing we go down the path to the right towards the city center. The wide forest path continues down the valley and shortly before we reach car park number 9, we turn half-left into the so-called Graf-Eberhard-Weg, which leads around the foor of the mountain back to our starting point, the hiking car park P23, without any further detours.
Note: all paths of the Bad Urach spa administration are signposted on both sides and can therefore be hiked both clockwise and anti-clockwise. The description of the route we have given is only a recommendation, you can also walk the path in the opposite direction without any problems.
Ausrüstung
Sturdy shoes, hiking poles and sure-footedness are recommended for this tour.
Sicherheitshinweise
Our circular tours are not walking, but hiking trails. Sturdy shoes, hiking poles and sure-footedness are recommended for all tours, particularly after and during rainfall and in the winter months, the limestone rock and soil can be very slippery, especially on slopes. We also point out the presence of natural forest hazards. We ask you to exercise caution.
In an emergency, always dial the number 112. If necessary, please mention that the people involved in the accident are in inaccessible terrain, so that the Bad Urach mountain rescue service is also informed and there is no unnecessary loss of time during the rescue.
On the hiking signposts of our trails, you will find a plaque with the exact location number on it. The location number consists of the letters BU and a max. 4-digit number. Communicating this number to the control centre in an emergency, helps to provide assistance faster.
Please note the current safety instructions.
