Beschreibung
As a health and spa town, nordic walking is very important in Bad Urach. We feel, nordic walking is not a passing trend, but an ideal opportunity to promote your own health and movement, with lots of fun and a great way to enjoy the most beautiful landscapes of the Alb.
This tour, with a medium level of difficulty, leads past the Güterstein stud farm and the Viehstelle (shelter with fire pit) and through meadows and orchards across the entire Galgenberg.
Autorentipp
You can get the “Nordic Walking” brochure free of charge from the Bad Urach spa administration or Tourist Information. Information about guided tours and rental poles is available from the Schwäbische Alb Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bei den Thermen 10-12, Tel. 07125/1570.
Wegbeschreibung
First we follow the signs and turn into the wooded Fohlensteige, where the path goes steadily and evenly uphill. Now a somewhat rough forest path branches slightly downhill and we are rewarded with a wonderful view of the Breitenstein and the Nägelesfelsen cliffs opposite. Below us is the Güterstein stud farm with its beautiful paddocks (a branch location of the main and state stud farm Marbach). Arriving at the farm we go left on a forest path and come to the Viehstelle (shelter with firepit). Here we turn off and walk slightly uphill along the edge of the forest. Now we follow the soft meadow path that takes us through meadow orchards over the entire Galgenberg and allows us wonderful views of the Hohenurach castle ruins, the Nägelesfelsen cliffs opposite and the city. An asphalt path leads slightly downhill to the railway line, which we cross, and to the right we come to a narrow trail over the small bridge and follow the idyllic brook to the right again. Another small asphalt road and from there follow the road back to the starting point, which we can already see from here.
Ausrüstung
Sturdy shoes and Nordic walking poles are recommended for this tour.
Sicherheitshinweise
Sturdy shoes and Nordic walking poles are recommended for all tours, particularly after and during rainfall and in the winter months, the limestone rock and soil can be very slippery, especially on slopes. We also point out the presence of natural forest hazards. We ask you to exercise caution.
In an emergency, always dial the number 112. If necessary, please mention that the people involved in the accident are in inaccessible terrain, so that the Bad Urach mountain rescue service is also informed and there is no unnecessary loss of time during the rescue.
On the hiking signposts of our trails, you will find a plaque with the exact location number on it. The location number consists of the letters BU and a max. 4-digit number. Communicating this number to the control centre in an emergency, helps to provide assistance faster.
