From the Michelskäppele vantage point (615 m) you have a great view of the old town of Bad Urach, the Ermstal valley and the surrounding hills.
The name "Michelskäppele" is a remnant of the pilgrimage chapel "St. Michel on the Hohenberg", which was closed in 1534 in the course of the Reformation, and fell into disrepair. At the turn of the century, the Urach Beautification Society had a small shelter built at the suspected location of the chapel. However, the chapel may originally have been in the area of the Sanatoriumsweg, i.e. closer to the city.
