Beschreibung
As a health and spa town, nordic walking is very important in Bad Urach. We feel, nordic walking is not a passing trend, but an ideal opportunity to promote your own health and movement, with lots of fun and a great way to enjoy the most beautiful landscapes of the Alb.
This tour of medium difficulty leads past the Brühlbach stream, the foot of the Urach waterfall and the Güterstein stud farm, it offers stunning views of the Hohenurach castle ruins.
Autorentipp
This tour is a combination of two tours "Zum Uracher Wasserfall" and the "Gestütshof Tour". If you are a beginner and do not dare to do the combination tour, you can also undertake one of the two tours separately.
You can get the “Nordic Walking” brochure free of charge from the Bad Urach spa administration and Tourist Infomation. Information about guided tours and rental poles is available from the Schwäbische Alb Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bei den Thermen 10-12, Tel. 07125/1570.
Wegbeschreibung
We first follow the signs and walk along the flat, partially shaded path alongside the babbling Brühlbach stream, then come to the foot of the well-known Urach waterfall, which plunges 37 m into the depths. There we turn into the initially inconspicuous, somewhat overgrown path that goes slightly downhill. A short time later we reach the Schiesstal valley through the beautiful old beech forest and cross a small wooden pedestrian bridge at the end of the valley, following a gravel road at the foot of the Runder Berg. We continue on the straight path between paddocks and orchards directly to the Güterstein stud farm. Passing through the farm and we reach the Viehstelle (shelter with firepit and BBQ area) via a level, easily walkable forest path. We make our way back to the start point through a narrow ravine, with fantastic view of the Hohenurach castle ruins, and surrounded by dense deciduous forest.
Ausrüstung
Sturdy shoes and nordic walking poles are needed for this tour.
Sicherheitshinweise
Sturdy shoes and Nordic walking poles are recommended for all tours, particularly after and during rainfall and in the winter months, the limestone rock and soil can be very slippery, especially on slopes. We also point out the presence of natural forest hazards. We ask you to exercise caution.
In an emergency, always dial the number 112. If necessary, please mention that the people involved in the accident are in inaccessible terrain, so that the Bad Urach mountain rescue service is also informed and there is no unnecessary loss of time during the rescue.
On the hiking signposts of our trails, you will find a plaque with the exact location number on it. The location number consists of the letters BU and a max. 4-digit number. Communicating this number to the control centre in an emergency, helps to provide assistance faster.
