Wegbeschreibung
The tour starts, direction towards Bad Urach. We follow the road and after a short distance turn left. After a few hundred meters we keep to the right. The path runs along the fields and we cross the railway line twice.
Shortly thereafter, there is a short detour down to the teaching garden of the fruit growing association. The facility is open to all interested gardeners for independent and free viewing all year round. Information boards help with orientation and provide interesting information about the individual plants.
We continue our tour and continue to follow the path along the meadows and fruit trees. Along the way we have great views of the Maisental valley.
At the end of the path we turn down and follow the path until we come to the Viehplatz barbecue and grill area. This is a good oppertunity to stop and linger, enjoying nature around you.
We take the right path and walk past the Güterstein stud farm. Shortly thereafter we turn left and follow a steep zigzag path up to the Gütersteiner waterfall. At the Gütersteiner waterfall, the water falls in many small cascades into a pool. As a result, this waterfall has its very own character, it is more hidden and romantic, but no less spectacular than the Urach Waterfall. The waterfall is situated in a nature reserve, therefore leaving the pathway is not permitted.
We follow the signs until we reach the round mountain and walk around it and get into the Schießtal valley. We follow the path that meanders along the valley floor and eventually reach the foot of the Urach waterfall. If you want, you can walk up the steps alongside the waterfall to the high meadow above, and enjoy the view below.
The path along the Brühlbach finally leads us back to the starting point.
Ausrüstung
Sturdy shoes, hiking poles and sure-footedness are recommended for this tour.
Sicherheitshinweise
Our circular tours are not walking, but hiking trails. Sturdy shoes, hiking poles and sure-footedness are recommended for all tours, particularly after and during rainfall and in the winter months, the limestone rock and soil can be very slippery, especially on slopes. We also point out the presence of natural forest hazards. We ask you to exercise caution.
In an emergency, always dial the number 112. If necessary, please mention that the people involved in the accident are in inaccessible terrain, so that the Bad Urach mountain rescue service is also informed and there is no unnecessary loss of time during the rescue.
On the hiking signposts of our trails, you will find a plaque with the exact location number on it. The location number consists of the letters BU and a max. 4-digit number. Communicating this number to the control centre in an emergency, helps to provide assistance faster.
Please note the current safety instructions.
