Wegbeschreibung
The town center near the church is the starting point of our tour. From here we first walk along the main road in the direction of Bad Urach.
Keeping left, continue along Kanzstraße to the outskirts. At the fenced property of a construction company, the path runs downhill towards the edge of the forest. Shortly after we have reached the Eaves Forest. A path turns to the right into a wooded, shadowy and partly rocky gorge. After overcoming a height difference of more than 100 meters on sweeping hairpin bends, we see a flat area below us with tall beech, linden and maple trees and the tufa stone terrace of the Sirchinger waterfall. We can reach this terrace on foot if we turn left down the hill. To the right, our circular route branches off into a narrow forest path and we use it to get out of the rocky forest gorge to the wide, gravel forest path in the upper third of the wooded slope.
We turn left into this level forest path and hike through the deep Brenntenhalde gorge. After the gorge, when the path bends to the right, a narrow footpath branches off to the left to the Blankenhorn ruins. It is right behind the main path on a mountain spur above the Ermstal. From the rocky mountain spur (650 m) there is a beautiful view of the Upper Ermstal, the narrowest point of which is below us. Up the valley we see Bad Urach-Seeburg and above it the Uhenfels Castle.
From the ruins we go back through the former moat to the forest path and continue our hike to the left. The path turns right and follows the slope of the Grindel pond, a path branches off to the left to the Schlupffels (690 m, natural monument, no entry), a once well-known vantage point. Today the view of the Ermstal is overgrown.
We therefore remain on the forest path and soon cross a large clearing, at the edge of the forest we continue our hike to the right and in a few minutes we come to the edge of the forest and to the foot of the Blenberg. The last part of our tour now runs on the slopes of the Blasenbergs mountain with its pastures. Again and again we are offered views of Bad Urach-Sirchingen and its surroundings and later of the neighboring community of St. Johann-Upfingen. About 160 m after the edge of the forest we leave the hillside path and hike between pastures back into the village.
Ausrüstung
Sturdy shoes, hiking poles and sure-footedness are recommended for this tour.
Sicherheitshinweise
Our circular tours are not walking, but hiking trails. Sturdy shoes, hiking poles and sure-footedness are recommended for all tours, particularly after and during rainfall and in the winter months, the limestone rock and soil can be very slippery, especially on slopes. We also point out the presence of natural forest hazards. We ask you to exercise caution.
In an emergency, always dial the number 112. If necessary, please mention that the people involved in the accident are in inaccessible terrain, so that the Bad Urach mountain rescue service is also informed and there is no unnecessary loss of time during the rescue.
On the hiking signposts of our trails, you will find a plaque with the exact location number on it. The location number consists of the letters BU and a max. 4-digit number. Communicating this number to the control centre in an emergency, helps to provide assistance faster.
Please note the current safety instructions.
