Swabian Alb Cycle Route - Stage 5: Bad Urach to Sonnenbühl

On the fifth stage, cyclists experience the branched Erms Valley, which lies on the ridge side of the Swabian Alb. Particularly beautiful are the source of the Erms as a turquoise karst spring and the rocky Trailfinger Gorge. Buzzing bees and flowers on sheep pastures as well as regional delicacies can be found in Münsingen, in the heart of the UNESCO Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve. The Lauter river rises picturesquely shortly afterwards. The water of the green spring pond flows into a meadow valley with juniper heaths and wooded slopes. There is also a forest in the fog cave at the day's destination Sonnenbühl - a stalactite forest. The cave in the white Jura limestone is one of the oldest show caves in the Alb. The top tip on the route is Lichtenstein Castle in Honau, which is considered Baden-Württemberg's fairytale castle.
