Swabian Alb Cycle Route - Stage 4: Bad Boll to Bad Urach
Mittel
After the fruit tasting on the previous day, the route now takes you with all your senses through the wonderfully fragrant and colourful orchard meadows around Limburg, an extinct volcano and aristocratic seat, near Weilheim/Teck. The day's stage is framed by the impressive slope and ravine forests of the Albtrauf, which poet Eduard Mörike once described as the "blue wall". Particularly worth seeing is the ball mill in Neidlingen, where balls of Jura marble are still ground on some days. Then climb the Römerstein, 847 m and the highest elevation in the Middle Alb. The lookout tower offers a magnificent panorama, with a bit of luck as far as the Stuttgart TV tower in the west and the Alps in the south. The old town in the destination Bad Urach is also a highlight. The market square lined with half-timbered houses is considered one of the most beautiful in southern Germany. From 2024, the stage is expected to offer another top tip: the new Heidengraben Centre near Hülben - on the spot where the metropolis of the Celts was located 1,200 years ago.
