Fantastic panoramic view
At an altitude of 855 meters, the proud fortress sits enthroned on the cone-shaped Zoller Mountain, offering a fantastic panoramic view with a range of up to 100 kilometers and providing majestic insights into its magnificent halls and chambers. For around 1,000 years, the castle has been owned by the Hohenzollern family, which produced Swabian counts, Brandenburg electors, Prussian kings, and even German emperors. Accordingly, there is all kinds of history and stories about royalty and majesty to discover at the Hohenzollern family seat.
The first Hohenzollern Castle, built in the 11th century, was destroyed in the 15th century during a war. Shortly afterwards, the Counts of Zollern built the second Hohenzollern Castle on the same site, which in turn fell into ruin in the 18th century. Larger and more beautiful than its predecessors, King Frederick William IV of Prussia had his family's ancestral seat rebuilt between 1850 and 1867 – today's third Hohenzollern Castle.
Online ticket portal
A limited number of tickets are available each day via the online ticket portal on the castle's website. Visitors can explore both the grounds and the museum rooms independently at their own pace. To do so, they can install the free Hohenzollern Castle app on their smartphone, which functions like an audio guide. In addition, expert staff are available in the museum rooms to answer any questions.
Gastronomy & Castle Shop
In the car park shop (in car park P1) and in the castle shop (next to the visitor information centre in the castle courtyard), visitors of all ages will find inspiring, interesting, regional, useful and beautiful items. And the castle's own café-restaurant serves regional specialities, both indoors and in the castle garden, one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the region.
